Wednesday Links - The Terry PeguBillSabreSlugs

There are quite a few good links here today, including something on the "new" (but not really) Blues' ECHL affiliate. But remember this . . . Terry Pegula has more money than God. If that doesn't help the Sabres OR the Bills one day, nothing will.

If you buy something from an SB Nation link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

It's early September and it already feels like fall. I fucking love Montana.

BLUES NEWS:

  • Hildy reviews NHL '15. Me? I'm still waiting for Electronic Arts to go out of business, personally, and am relatively stunned they haven't yet. [SLGT]
  • After two years away from Anchorage, the Blues have enlisted the Alaska Aces as their ECHL affiliate once again. They'll share the franchise with the Wild(s). (Oh, and answer a couple of survey questions that are meant, apparently, to temporarily distract you from the fact that newspapers are dying . . . if you don't subscribe.) [StL Today / Morning Skate]
  • Nate Prosser knew he was getting into a tough situation to crack in St. Louis, yet he chose the Blues anyway. Here's his story, by way of Lou. [In The Slot / Lou Korac]

HOCKEY NEWS:

  • Bovada put out their O/U's on NHL teams' point totals. The number for the Blues is even with the Penguins but below only the Bruins, Blackhawks and Kings . . . but dude, only 65.5 for the Sabres? Bet the over on THAT. (Though they're still gonna suck.) [Puck Daddy]
  • Amazingly, it's taken until now to lose our first member of the 1980 "Miracle On Ice" team, and it happens to be one with quite a legacy. Bob Suter, father of Ryan Suter, passed yesterday at the age of 57. RIP, sir. [USA Today]
  • The aforementioned Penguins? They're previewed in Emoji's. I'm sure that was fun. [Puck Daddy]
  • Two arrests were made in connection with the death of former Wild(s) and Rangers forward Derek Boogaard, who overdosed on painkillers. One of those arrested? The son of a former Islanders player. [My Fox Twin Cities]
  • Hockey Reference is adding more #FancyStats to their site. Good! [Sports Reference Blog]
  • Scott Stevens was thought of as one to be groomed to become a head coach. Well, he stepped down from his job as an assistant with the Devils. So, uh, maybe not. [Fire 'N' Ice]
  • Recently, Adam Gretz gave us the all Horrible Contract All-Star Team. Now, he gives us the NHL's Bargain Contract All-Stars. No Blues on this one, because while they don't piss money away . . . they're not THIS good. [SB Nation]

OTHER SHIT:

  • Given recent events . . . a bunch of ladies have recently shared their reasons as to why they stayed in an abusive relationship in the past. Sarah Kogod shared her story as well. [SB Nation]
  • Speaking of the NFL . . . Big Daddy Drew tells the world why the league is full of shit. [Deadspin]
  • And STILL speaking of the NFL . . . we all knew that Sabres owner Terry Pegula had more money than God. Not sure we knew he had enough scratch to outbid the likes of Donald Trump and Jon Bon Jovi. Glad he did, because the mere prospect of one of those assholes owning an NFL team would've just made me forget about the NFL forever, given recent events. So yeah, pending league approval, Terry Pegula owns the Bills now, and he will keep them in Buffalo. Good. [SB Nation]

VIDEO:

I've begun this clip at 3:02. The end of what I want to show you is on "Movie Sign" (about 4:05). It is probably the best MST3K skit to describe the SLGT experience:

You've got links. You've got videos. But unlike me, you have better things to do than to spew 'em out yourself. Have me help! Send 'em along:

And check back this afternoon for Episode 51 of Beyond Checkerdome. We talk about stuff, things and other stuff. Tune in!
