Only the Chicken Littles believed that Jaden Schwartz would remain unsigned through the start of the season. The Chicken Mediums around these parts believed that something would happen soon. Something did.
A few days ago, I posted this:
This is about cap management, not necessarily player value entirely. The next thing fans will here, in a week or two at the most, is that Schwartz has been re-signed. If I were a betting person I'd say the deal will be for $2.3 or $2.4 million, but I am not a betting person because I am rarely right.
I need to bet more often.
Jaden Schwartz's new two-year contract with STL pays him $2M in 1st year, $2.7M in 2nd year for AAV of (yup, you guessed it) $2.35M.

What this does is benefit both the Blues and Schwartz. It's a payraise for Schwartz now with a chance to prove himself over the next two seasons, and it saves the Blues money now while giving them evaluative time. It's a fair deal, it's a good deal, and that means that the Blues will probably have Jaden Schwartz on a line in practice Monday afternoon.
