September marks the start of players coming back to town, camp, and pre-season. It doesn't mark the end of signings, which explains today's unexpected signing of former Los Angeles Kings forward Colin Frasier. The three-time Stanley Cup winner (I know, I know) split his time last year between the NHL club and the AHL's Manchester Monarchs. Frasier has 58 points (20 goals, 38 assists) in 358 games - along with 290 penalty minutes.
Fraser provides depth, and if he ever makes it up to the big club due to a regular's injury, he can win friends and influence enemies with stories of the times that he played on teams and won Cups with teams that Blues fans generally dislike.
