RECAP: Blues Earn Most Lopsided 4-2 Victory Ever

The Blues nearly double up the Oilers in shots on goal and make it look easy against an Oilers team in complete disarray. The Tweet of the Game is the greatest.

These are the games the Blues are supposed to win, and win the Blues did so Tuesday night over a hapless Oilers squad, 4-2, on the strength of a large shot advantage and goals by four different players.

Starting things off? That Vladimir Tarasenko fella. He's good and stuff:

Next? David Backes, who has been on Goddamn fire lately:

Then the second period. More goals! Here's one from Jaden Schwartz, scored soon after coming back from getting struck in the face by an errant deflected Alex Pietrangelo shot:

And the third . . . the Oilers acted like they wanted to play, getting this dandy tip-in from Benoit Pouliot:

But the Blues veritably put it away on a nice finish by Alexander Steen:

Though the Oilers wanted to prolong the inevitable, getting a second marker from Pouliot:

And that's how it ended.

The Sig is loaded . . . FIRE:

  • The Oilers are fuck-awful. Had it not been for Ben Scrivens (25 saves on 29 shots), I'm pretty sure the Blues would've won this game 7-3. I'm starting to see why fans throw shit on the ice when they even DO show up in Edmonton these days.
  • Jake Allen didn't look great in goal tonight (13 of 15) and he really didn't have to, honestly, but a couple saves were dandies. According to reports, Brian Elliott gets the next two starts, and honestly, if he's healthy, Elliott SHOULD get those games.
  • All the lines are clicking right now. We're at the point where fourth-liners aren't counted on for top six minutes. That's good. That's REALLY good. I thought, especially, the STL Line looked pretty good . . . that, despite the couple penalties Jori Lehtera took, including the one that led to the first goal.
  • Tweet of the Game? Derek Roy's . . . Brother? Cousin? Father? Uncle? I dunno, whoever it is, to be chirping at me with such confidence, he's GOTTA be related somehow because holy shit, how do you not SEE how bad this guy has become otherwise, right?:

Derek Roy also has just as many Cup rings as those two. Just facts. #MixInASalad

Or is it a parody account of some type? We'll see, in due time.

The Blues play the Red Wings on Thursday at 7pm at the DrinkScotch. Set your drinking schedule accordingly.

And as always . . . Fuck Detroit.

LET'S GO BLUES.
