Blackhawks At Blues Morning Open Thread: Preseason Finale

In one week, the final set roster takes the ice for real. Tonight is one more chance to impress for guys looking to make the cut.

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight's the last preseason game for the Blues, giving them a week until opening night. The final roster hasn't been set, though, but it's getting obvious in some cases who is staying and who will be beginning the year with the Wolves. Chris Butler and Magnus Paajarvi apparently fit into the latter category. Colton Parayko is proving he does not. The young forward has played in every pre-season game (save for one of the two with Columbus, because he can't be in two places at once), and has four assists. Robert Bortuzzo is back tonight from injury, but with a strong challenge from Parayko he may be in a suit next Thursday.

Here is tonight's roster, from the Blues' official site:

Forwards: David BackesKyle BrodziakTroy BrouwerRobby Fabbri, Scott GomezDmitrij JaskinJori LehteraSteve OttTy RattieRyan ReavesJaden Schwartz, Scottie Upshall

Defense: Robert Bortuzzo, Jay BouwmeesterJoel EdmundsonPetteri Lindbohm, Colton Parayko, Kevin Shattenkirk

Goalies: Jake AllenPheonix Copley

You may notice that Jori Lehtera is back from injury tonight and getting some work in before the season starts..You may also notice that the SST line has tonight off. This isn't the Blues' B squad by any means, but it looks like Ken Hitchcock is trying to get one last look at a few elder players before he makes final cuts.

Welcome to your morning open thread. Check back later for game day updates, and while you're waiting on puck drop (which is on KMOX tonight), head to Second City Hockey and say hi.
