The Blues begin this afternoon's game with 12 healthy forwards. It feels like they've managed to lose a player a game this road trip; Robby Fabbri, Kevin Shattenkirk, and now Paul Stastny are all injured and out for the foreseeable future. None of those players being out is something to take lightly, but the loss of Stastny is problematic, to say the least. As Ken Hitchcock said to Jeremy Rutherford:
The visitors have won three in a row but will be playing today without top-line center Paul Stastny, who was injured in the second period of Friday's game in Vancouver. The club held on for a 4-3 win over the Canucks without him, but his absence Sunday will affect a lot of areas.
"Everywhere," Hitchcock said. "Special teams, five on five, power play, matchups, everywhere. This is going to be a little bit of a two-game trial to see how we sort out, who absorbs the minutes. We don't really know. We have kind of a paper plan on it, but we'll see in actuality when we play in the competition, who can take on his minutes."
Jori Lehtera will be centering the top line, with David Backes centering the second. Dmitrij Jaskin will be looking to get his offensive output going on a line with Scottie Upshall, and centered by Scott Gomez.
