Blues Place Jaden Schwartz On IR With Broken Ankle; Will Be Evaluated In 3 Months

Life isn'r easy if you're the St. Louis Blues.

Blues fans learned this off-season that not even the locker room was injury proof. Patrik Berglund injured his shoulder, and will be out until probably late January, leaving the Blues short one of their top nine.

The Blues replaced him with Robby Fabbri, and things were going fine for exactly one and a half games, until Fabbri was knocked out with a concussion.

Kevin Shattenkirk was the next to go. Then Paul Stastny, out for a fifth of the season with a broken foot. Now, it's Jaden Schwartz, out for at least three months with a broken ankle sustained in practice. The Blues placed him on IR this morning. It's never a good sign when you have emergency ankle surgery performed the night of the break - this must've been a bad one.

The Blues recalled Ty Rattie to fill in for now. Those off-season signings of Scottie Upshall and Scott Gomez are looking pretty good right now, aren't they?  It's almost as though Doug Armstrong expected this. To be fair, with the Blues' track record on early-season injuries, shouldn't we all have expected this?
