MALLARDS GAME RECAPS
Oct. 23, 2015 -- MALLARDS 0 vs Tulsa 1 (box score)
Oct. 24, 2015 -- MALLARDS 5 vs Tulsa 3 (box score)
Oct. 23, 2015
MOLINE, IL --- Kevin Carr made 18 saves and Brandon Wong scored the only goal as the Tulsa Oilers spoiled the Quad City Mallards' home opener by blanking the Mallards 1-0 Friday evening.
The Oilers were on the power play when Wong swept the puck home from the slot at 6:38 of the second period. At the other end, the Oilers limited the Mallards to just five shots on goal in each of the final two periods.
Oct. 24, 2015
MOLINE, IL --- Raphael Bussieres scored the third period game winner and added a late empty net goal and Brody Hoffman made 25 saves in his professional debut as the host Quad City Mallards (2-1-1) defeated the Tulsa Oilers (2-3-0) 5-3 Saturday night.
Bussieres provided the Mallards' fourth lead of the night by breaking a 3-3 tie with a backhander from the right wing circle at 14:37 of the third. He clinched victory after the Oilers pulled goaltender Jussi Olkinuora by putting the puck into the unguarded Tulsa net while falling to the ice with just 20 seconds left.
Bussieres finished off the Oilers after Phil Brewer had tipped home his second goal of the night and the Oilers' third equalizer of the contest at 3:08 of the third. Darren McMillan assisted on three Mallard goals including both of those scored by Bussieres. McMillan was, along with Bussieres, Miles Koules (one goal and one assist), Logan Nelson (one goal and one assist) and Olivier Archambault (two assists), one of five Mallards who recorded multiple points.
DUCK TALES: As predicted last week, the Blues assigned center Zach Pochiro to the Quad this week after he had been a healthy scratch with the Chicago Wolves ... Pochiro and Ryan Tesink are now the only Blues' prospects currently skating for the Mallards, as goalie Niklas Lundstrom has been recalled to the Wolves ... Tesink has racked up two fighting majors in four games played, and is the Mallards' penalty leader at present with 12 minutes.
