Blues Sign Martin Havlat, Dainius Zubrus To PTO

The Blues need reinforcements in a bad way.

Scottie Upshall and Scott Gomez were both solid "just in case of injury" additions to the Blues, and lo, injuries happened. Those injuries, to Jaden Schwartz and Paul Stastny, happened to two of the Blues key pieces. Upshall and Gomez have been capable fill-ins, but apparently the Blues would like more insurance going forward. Today the team announced that they signed Martin Havlat and Dainius Zubrus to professional try outs.

The team apparently is picking up old Devils as well as Stars. I wonder whose doing this may be.

Havlat scored five goals and nine assists last season for the Devils, Zubrus had four goals and six assists. Their days of scoring prowess are behind them, and Havlat tried and failed to stick with the Florida Panthers this off-season.

This does, however, beg the question: who did Ty Rattie piss off and why does Ken Hitchcock absolutely refuse to give Magnus Paajarvi a chance be the 13th forward, a role that he seemed destined to fill before camp? Age before beauty, I suppose.

I knew Hitch was a history buff, but is this getting to be too much?
