The final roster is almost set. Today the Blues sent down two forwards and two defensemen to the AHL's Chicago Wolves. Two players, Magnus Paajarvi and Chris Butler, were placed on waivers a few days ago. Two others were seen as near locks to make the team at the start of camp. The Blues also sent Ty Rattie and Petteri Lindbohm to the Wolves.
Rattie, who the Blues' 2011 second round pick, has been surpassed on the depth chart by 2014's first round pick, Robby Fabbri. Rattie played 11 games with the Blues last season, never scoring a goal and adding just two assists in the point column. He often was played on the third line. Fabbri, however, has been playing with Jaden Schwartz and Jori Lehtera, and will probably get mostly second line minutes as he contributes to a significantly speedier top six.
Lindbohm was a near lock to make the team out of camp until impressive showings by Joel Edmundson (46th overall, 2011) and Colton Parayko (86th overall, 2012) knocked him down the depth chart. Hard work and effort can get you noticed in this league, and both Edmundson and especially Parayko were noticeable.
