There always seems to be a playoff like atmosphere when the Blues play the Winnipeg Jets. It's interesting, because the Jets have made the playoffs exactly twice in franchise history and have been swept both times, so I'm not sure how they know what a playoff atmosphere is.
Nonetheless, October 18th's game was a tough one - a see-saw event that was finally blown wide open in the third period with two goals, one from Vladimir Tarasenko and one from Carl Gunnarsson. It also saw some rough play, with Dustin Byfuglien plastering Jay Bouwmeester into the third row. All in all, there were 19 penalties called in that game.
Last night in Nashville, however, there seemed to be a log jam in the penalty box.
Well done, Rinne. "I'm just gonna grab... aw, screw it. You guys got this."
The Jets were frustrated by the 7-0 curbstomping Nashville gave them, obviously. Hopefully they're still rattled, and the Blues can take advantage of a winless road trip for the Jets. Winnipeg has lost five in a row; to put some distance between them and the rest of the Central, the Blues should make it six.
This is your morning open thread. Check back later on for some Lighting the Lamp, your preview, and tonight's GDT. While you're waiting, head over to Arctic Ice Hockey and catch up with some Jets fans who you'll swear are fans of the Thrashers.
