Red Wings At Blues Morning Open Thread: Howard vs. Allen

Will the Blues be able to keep Pavel Datsyuk off of the score sheet tonight?

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Red Wings, in their first season in years without Mike Babcock behind the bench, are off to an ok 10-8-2 start. Not much to write home about, until you realize that their away record is a solid 5-3-1, and they have played the Blues very well since their relocation to the Eastern Conference.

The Wings won both games against the Blues in overtime, with Justin Abdelkader and Pavel Datsyuk scoring goals to win in overtime. Datsyuk is back with the Wings after missing time with an injury, and despite only having an assist in those five games, is someone that the Blues need to keep an eye on tonight, as always. The Wings beat the Kings 3-2 at home last night, so perhaps travel and being tired may contribute to an opening for Jake Allen and the Blues tonight.

This is your morning open thread. Check back later on for a Lighting the Lamp, your preview, and the game day thread. While you're waiting, head over and say hi to our frenimies at Winging It In Motown. They hate the Blues as much as we hate their team. Tonight should be fun.
