Blues At Blackhawks Morning Open Thread: Elliott In Net

The Blues need to bounce back from a tough loss to the LA Kings. Can they?

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

Last night's 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings was offensive in how incapable the offense was. The Kings were gritty, sure, but that's not why they won. Jonas Enroth doesn't get a shutout because of grit. Jake Allen doesn't turn in a 33 save performance and get the second star of the game because the Kings were grittier. The Kings won because the Blues came out flat in the first, missed big chances that they should've converted on, and allowed the Kings to get to the net.

The Blues may've played the Blackhawks very well last year. The Hawks may be off to a mediocre 7-5-0 start. They're still the Blackhawks, this is still the second of a back-to-back, and the Blues are still missing key pieces that help their offense not be putrid.

Also, it's another NBCSN game, and we all know how well the Blues do on national broadcasts.

This is your morning open thread. Check back later for some Road Music and other goodies, and while you're waiting for the puck to drop, say hi to our best frenimies, Second City Hockey. They're good people. Just an unfortunate choice of team.
