Panthers At Blues Morning Open Thread: Here Kitty

The Florida Panthers are trying to claw their way into one of the East's tightly contested playoff spots.

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida Panthers are not a bad team. They're also not an amazingly good team either, but they're the type of opponent that you underestimate at your own risk. The Detroit Red Wings found that out the hard way in the Panthers' 2-1 overtime victory.

The Blues and Panthers are closely matched in both G/G and GA/G, and the Panthers have the ninth best power play in the league. Where the Blues excel is their league third-best penalty kill, which has been humming along at an 85.2% clip.

The Panthers have lost their last six games against the Blues and haven't won in St. Louis since 2009. That doesn't mean a milestone can't be set tonight - one more point and the ageless Jaromir Jagr ties Marcel Dionne for fourth all time. The mullet is back.

This is your morning open thread. Check back later on for a Lighting the Lamp, your game preview, and your GDT. While you're waiting for puck drop, head over to Litter Box Cats and say hi to Donny and the crew.
