Flyers Vs. Blues Recap: Fly Me To The Moon

The Fabbrieeeeze wasn't strong enough.

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Did you know? The Blues played a hockey game tonight. Their opponent? The Philadelphia Flyers. The Blues would start Brian Elliott in net tonight in place of Jake Allen. The Flyers would counter with Michal Neuvrith. Your forward lines tonight would be: Magnus Paajarvi, Paul Stastny, and Vladimir Tarasenko would be the top line. The second line would consist of Alexander Steen, David Backes and Troy Brouwer. Your Third line would consist of Robby Fabbri, Jori Lehtera and Dmitrij Jaskin. The fourth line would see the combo of Scottie Upshall, Kyle Brozdiak and Ryan Reaves. The defensive parings would be: Jay Bouwmeester and Alex Pietrangelo. Petteri Lindbolm, and Kevin Shattenkirk, and finally Carl Gunnarson, and Colton Parayko.

First Period:

While the Blues didn't score in the first, they would at least resemble a hockey team.Brian Elliott would be tested early. He passed. For now.

Paul Statsny would make his presence felt tonight. Here he was denied by Neuvirth.

In case you needed proof that Captain Umlaut played tonight, here it is. I'm ready for the Paajarvi experiment on the top line to be over.

Second Period:

Would the notorious second period strike again? Not if Fabbri had anything to do with it.

Fabbri would pick up his fifth of the season. Jaskin would pick up an assist, and this line keeps getting better. I hope that it continues to see time. But again, Hitch.

Just a few moments later the Flyers would be right back into the game as Michael Raffi would score and tie the game.

But wait, there's more! Matt Read would score his 5th of the season.

Too easy. Still not done in the second. The Flyers would score yet one more time, even though the Flyers would be outshout most of the period.

Speaking of too easy, here's Claude Giroux just doing whatever he wants.

Just walked right in, and you saw the rest. Yikes. the good news for the period is that the Blues Didn't give up another goal. The bad news is, they didnt score any more either.

Third period:

Glimmer of hope for the Blues tonight, which would be in the form of David Backes:

The Blues would score on the power play (wait, what?) and it would be the Captain's 8th goal of the season. The Blues however would fall late as the Flyers would get an empty netter and win 4-2.

It was a more inspiring effort tonight, but the Blues would still fall short. The fact that they were able to outshoot the Flyers is a win in itself.

Three Stars:

3rd: Michal Neuvrith (two goals allowed. Spells Michael wrong)

2nd: Robby Fabbri ( One goal, Still needs a deal with Febreeze or something)

1st: Claude Giroux: ( One goal, two assists, probably a creepy ginger fuck)
