Sunday Links: Inconclusive

Crazy refs, Stamkos dreams, quality shots, old legends and more...

Oh, so THAT's what a game puck looks like.
Oh, so THAT's what a game puck looks like.
Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Let me get this straight, you revised your initial call on the ice BEFORE looking at the replay, then stuck with that revised call because the replay was inconclusive? How in the actual fuck does that make sense to anyone?

Blues News:

  • In spite of the refs' best efforts, the Blues continued their dominance of the Flames yesterday afternoon. Moose looked good.  Vladimir Fucking Tarasenko looked good. Parayko looked like Vladimir Fucking Tarasenko (for his goal, at least). We got out shot by a pretty penny, but we got the W and never trailed.  Justin42 has your opening monologue. [STLGT]
  • Flames nation is taking it is stride. After all, they had a monster win streak coming into tonight, so no worries.  The Blues are just the bacon to their eggs. [M&G]
  • Flames nation also has their statistical recap which addresses the matter of shot-attempt quality over shot-attempt quantity.  Something I've been ranting about this whole slump, and something the coaching staff actually addressed 3 games ago (aka, the start of our current win-streak.) [M&G]
  • Word on the street is that Tampa GM Steve Yzerman has recently taken in a Blues game or two, and has sent scouts to at least one other. Could this mean a deal is in the works for Steve Stamkos?  Don't get too excited...Stamkos has a NTC which would have to be waived and we don't exactly have the cap space for a guy like him, and he would probably demand a lot in trade...but it sure is fun to think about for a few minutes.  So go ahead...indulge yourself. [Bleedin Blue]

Hockey News:

  • 9 other games yesterday. Dallas skunked Montreal, Nashville edged Minnesota and Chicago beat Buffalo in a shootout. Good thing the Blues won. [NHL]
  • 6 games tonight. The only one of consequence is Chicago vs San Jose. GO SHARKS! [NHL]
  • Puck Daddy has 3 stars.  No Blues, but Tarasenko and Moose get a mention. [Puck Daddy]
  • The top 10 images of the year in hockey. [Puck Daddy]
  • The Jackets are open to trading Ryan Johansen. [Puck Daddy]
  • But Stamkos claims he isn't looking for a trade. [Puck Daddy]
  • Montreal Legend and former Blue Dickie Moore passed away. Get to know him here. [Montreal Gazette]
  • Some teams actually reward their fans for social media interactions.  Hey Saint Louis...I might have found a way to generate some new excitement. [SI]

Other Shite:

  • Brian Posehn sings Carol of the Bells. And it will give you nightmares. [Nerdist]
  • Cats hate Christmas. Proof that cats are evil. [Bored Panda]
  • Can you guess the TV show?  I didn't even know that most of these were actually a thing. I scored 7...and at least half was luck. [Distractify]
  • Kids are accidentally hilarious, episode 7,392. [College Humor]
  • Your beer of the day is Easy Chair Amber Ale by Upland.  This smooth ale has a malty body with a slightly hoppy finish.  It is perfect for relaxing and day-dreaming about Steven Stamkos wearing the Bluenote. [Untappd]

Song of the day:

In honor of the batshit crazy rationale for allowing that Flames high-stick goal, here is a song about a batshit crazy person by a great, underrated puck rock band. If you want to actually here the lyrics, check the studio version here.
