On December 10th, the Blues were not playing their best hockey. In the midst of a homestand where they should've walked away with a decent number of points, the Blues went 2-3, losing to the Avalanche, the Leafs, and these Flyers. All three were easily winnable games, but the Blues had issues. What those issues were, no one knows. There were whispers of the dreaded "mindset" issue. There were coaching questions. There were goaltending questions. There were questions of "can anyone not named Vladimir Tarasenko score a key goal?"
That appears to be behind them, and us. What a difference a three game winning streak makes, even when two of those games are come from behind victories against teams that maybe the "behind" part shouldn't've been a problem.
No matter. The Flyers were beatable 10 days ago, and they're beatable now. The Blues just seem to be in a better position to beat them.
The Flyers? A third win in a row on home ice would be nice, especially since they sit just four points outside of the East's last playoff spot. As nice as Christmas presents are, it'd be nicer if the Blues could play the Grinch tonight.
This is your morning open thread. Check back later on for some CCR Road Music, and your GDT. While you're waiting, say hi to SB Nation's hockey overlord Travis at Broad Street Hockey.
