Blues Vs. Flyers Recap: Three Goal Leads Are Overrated.

Philly flies back from 3-0....

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Blues look to take one on the road against the Flyers tonight. In goal for the Blues would be Jake Allen. Opposing him would be Steve Mason. Your forward lines tonight would be the same as last game. Steen would be with Tarasenko and Stastny, Brouwer would be with Backes and Paajarvi. Fabbri would be paired with Jaskin and Lehtera and your fourth line would see Gomez back with Reaves and Upshall. Your defensive pairings would see Pietrangelo with Bouwmeester, Edmundson with Shattenkirk, and Gunnarsson with Parayko.

First Period:

Remember when the Blues had difficulty in the first period? Neither did I after tonight. The Blues would get a jump on the Flyers in the first thanks to the efforts of Robby Fabbri...

Fabbri scores his sixth of the season and Jaskin would get assist number sixth. Crazy how you keep a line together and they develop some chemistry.

But wait, there's more. The Blues would score goal number two in the first thanks to Kevin Shattenkirk on the power play. Somehow Tarasenko gets the pass over to Kevin who buries it past Mason.

It would be Shattenkirk's fifth of the season. The assists would go to Tarasenko (16) and Stastny (9).  The Blues were really rolling at this point. I mean I'd give you a Jake Allen highlight, but NHL.com doesn't have any. That's how inept Philly was in the first. Not that anyone would complain. Two to nothing good guys after one.

Second Period:

The Blues are awful in the second period. With that being said...Magnus up's his trade value and puts the Blues up by three at this point...

The Flyers were down. But apparently they weren't out. The Blues would give up a shorthanded goal to Chris VandeVelde. Yep. Good job special teams.

Three to one is ok to handle. The Flyers would have different ideas though as they would score all of two minutes later...

Momentum was gaining for the home team. 3-2 after two.

Third Period:

Welp.

So much for that powerful Blues penalty kill. The Flyers would score just 51 seconds into the third. It was not looking good for the boys in blue.

Although, it's not like the Blues didn't have their chances.

The Flyers would put us all out of our misery.

That's right sports fans, the Blues would blow a three goal lead. Not only that, but would lose the lead and the game. Not fun. The only saving grace (or maybe not) is that they are right back at it tomorrow night.

Three Stars:

Third Star: Shayne Gostisbehere (2 assists. His name is a real pain in the ass to spell)

Second Star: Evgeny Medvedev (1 goal. Probably a friend of Tarasenko's with that name)

First Star: Wayne Simmonds (2 goals. I got nothing.)
