The last time the Blues and Islanders met, back on October 24th, the Blues fought back only to let the game slip away in an overtime 3-2 loss. Brian Elliott lost that one, allowing three goals on 22 shots.
Tonight Ells has a chance to get back into Ken Hitchcock's good graces, and to erase that flat performance. Tuesday night, in relief of Jake Allen during the Blues 3-1 loss to the Florida Panthers, Elliott was the best player on the ice at times. Then again, as flat as Tuesday night's game was, that isn't saying much.
Tonight things will be shaken up. In order to boost scoring, Alexander Steen will be moved to make room for Jori Lehtera, who will be playing wing with Paul Stastny and Vladimir Tarasenko. Dmitrij Jaskin and Scott Gomez will return to the lineup, as will Robert Bortuzzo.
The Isles have won three in a row. Another performance from the Blues like Tuesday, and it'll be four.
This is your morning open thread. Check back for some Road Music from CCR, and your GDT. While you're waiting, why not say hi to Dom and the gang over at Lighthouse Hockey?
