WOLVES DENIED BY RAMPAGE

ROSEMONT, IL --- Petteri Lindbohm’s third-period goal pulled the Chicago Wolves within striking range, but the San Antonio Rampage answered with an empty-net goal to take a 3-1 win Sunday afternoon at Allstate Arena. Lindbohm notched his second score of the season and goaltender Jordan Binnington posted 26 saves for the Wolves (9-6-1-1), who managed 1 goal for the third night in a row.
"You saw some of the terrific plays we made earlier in the year. They’re not happening now," said Wolves head coach John Anderson. "We’re squeezing the sawdust out of the fiberglass stick. But there were a lot of positives this weekend. We’ll get right back at it on Wednesday."

ASUCHAK, WOLVES BURY THE MOOSE

ROSEMONT, IL --- Rookie center Spencer Asuchak delivered the Chicago Wolves’ first hat trick of the season as the Wolves rolled to an 8-2 victory over the Manitoba Moose on Wednesday night at Allstate Arena. Forwards Jordan Caron, Ty Rattie, Yannick Veilleux and Pat Cannone and defenseman Andre Benoit added tallies for the Wolves (10-6-1-1). Asuchuk and Benoit led the way with 3 points apiece while Caron, Rattie, Veilleux, Benoit, Justin Hodgman (2A) and Jacob Doty (2A) notched two points apiece.
"I’m not saying it was a perfect game, but it was a game we sorely needed to feel good about ourselves," said Wolves head coach John Anderson. "I’m so happy for Spencer. He’s a hard-working kid."

WOLVES GROUNDED BY GRIFFINS

GRAND RAPIDS, MI --- The Grand Rapids Griffins scored three second-period goals and held on for a 3-1 win over the Chicago Wolves on Friday night at Van Andel Arena.
Right wing Jordan Caron gave the Wolves a 1-0 lead with his fourth goal of the year. Goaltender Pheonix Copley made several spectacular stops as part of his 30-save effort for Chicago (10-7-1-1).
Caron opened the scoring for the Wolves at 12:42 of the first period. Defenseman Andre Benoit snapped a shot from the left point as Caron skated just outside the crease. He raised his stick to tip the puck past Griffins goaltender Jared Coreau. Benoit and Justin Hodgman earned assists.

WOLVES RALLY, BUT FALL IN SHOOTOUT

ROSEMONT, IL --- The Chicago Wolves scored two goals in the final nine minutes to force overtime, but the Milwaukee Admirals prevailed with a 3-2 shootout win Saturday night in Amtrak Rivalry action at Allstate Arena. Milwaukee’s Kevin Fiala registered the only tally during the shootout. Forwards Jeremy Welsh and Jordan Caron scored for the Wolves (10-7-1-2), who outshot the Admirals 24-8 during the third period and overtime.
"I guess the truth of the matter is you’ve got to play three periods and not just 10 minutes of one," said Wolves head coach John Anderson. "The other side of it was, we didn’t quit. We had a couple point-blank chances in overtime."

PAW PRINTS: The Blues recalled Lindbohm on Sunday, and reassigned Joel Edmundson to the Wolves after Edmundson aoppeared to have hit the wall in the last week or so ... Fellow defense prospect Tommy Vannelli has been a healthy scratch in seven straight games, and eight of the last ten ... Vannelli would probably benefit from a brief reassignment to the Quad City Mallards to earn ice time and work in game situations on whatever issues he may be having that are keeping him off the ice in Chicago.

DUCK TALES: Ryan Tesink and Zach Pochiro remain the only Blues' prospects currently assigned to the Mallards, although as mentioned above, others currently nailed to the bench in Chicago might benefit from a few games down there ... Tesink and Pochiro had almost identical stat lines for the week, each picking up an assist and two minutes in penalty time during the Mallards' two games played; Tesink was a plus-2 for the week, while Pochiro was a plus-1 ... Elsewhere in the ECHL, goalie Niklas Lundstrom is 4-1-0-0 in five starts with Elmira on loan; the Swede has a 2.71 GAA and 92.9% save percentage, and is still facing nearly 40 shots per start (38.34) with the Jackals.
