The last time the Blues and Canucks played each other, it was way back in October and it was not a pretty finish for the Blues.Three third-period goals allowed at home is never a good thing, though you can forgive the Blues for wanting to return that favor tonight.
Brian Elliott turned in another solid performance last night, so he gets the day off today in favor of Jake Allen. Allen lost for the first time this calendar year in a 5-2 embarrassment last week to the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs are one of the best teams in the league, and they caught the Blues in a downturn. Back-to-back wins against Winnipeg and Edmonton constitute an upswing, right?
Well, when both wins are 2-1 squeakers (one in the shootout), I'm not sure. The Blues will need to continue last night's strong play from Patrik Berglund, Paul Stastny, and Dmitrj Jaskin and maybe find a way to spread it around a bit. The team's play last night went from dominant to discombobulated at times, and that won't fly against Vancouver.
This is your morning open thread. Check back a little later on for some Road Music and the GDT, and while you're waiting head over to Nucks Misconduct and see how our friends on the West Coast are approaching this one.
