So far this season, the Blues have beaten the Jets twice - 4-2 and 2-1 in a shootout, both in Winnipeg. The Jets are a tough team to play against. They're rough. They want to make you tired so you make a mistake.
They're playing right into coach Ken Hitchcock's trap. As Hitch discussed with Jeremy Rutherford:
"They play physical because they skate," Hitchcock said. "Winnipeg doesn’t get enough credit for how fast they are. They’re on you fast. It looks to me the only time they rest is when they’re on the bench. They work. I think it’s their work that forces you to play, otherwise you’re going to get steamrolled. They’re a team that plays a very, very honest game. If you’re not prepared to dig in physically, emotionally, you’re going to get run over. I like the challenges. To me, every game we play against Winnipeg feels like a playoff game, looks like a playoff game. There’s a lot of good play on both sides of the puck by both teams."
Well, I mean, playing against Winnipeg feeling like a playoff game and the Blues winning isn't a stretch - the Jets have never won a playoff game in franchise history.
This is your gameday thread. Don't forget to compare Tyler Myers to the Jolly Green Giant at least once tonight. Michael Hutchinson is in net tonight, who the Blues defeated in a shootout on February 26th. He was an absolute wall in that game - let's make him crumble tonight.
Let's do this. Let's Go Blues.
