What did the Blues think of the game yesterday against the Minnesota Wild? Jay Bouwmeester was pretty direct with Jeremy Rutherford:
"Besides about 10 minutes in the second period, we weren’t very good."
No, no you guys weren't, Jay. But, I suppose, admitting it is the first step. Something good came out of yesterday, though - the Blues scored twice on the power play. If the flukey bounces stop this afternoon but the PP keeps chugging along, maybe the Blues can get out of Detroit with two points. In the nine games prior to the Wings' previous three, teams scored against their penalty kill at a 35% clip.
Maybe that can happen if the lines are left alone, too. For Detroit, they'll be playing without miracle man Pavel Datsyuk, who defeated the Blues in overtime when these two teams last met. The Blues will be playing without Carl Gunnarsson, so it'll be interesting to see what defenseman is inserted in his place.
This is your gameday thread. Grab a mimosa and settle in for hockey played too damn early in the afternoon. Let's do this.
Let's go Blues.
