I suppose that the Blues can't rely on the Eastern Conference for anything. A Islanders win over the Ducks and a Capitals win over the Predators would've gone a long way to lending the Blues a hand in the standings, but alas, tonight the most that they can hope for is to keep pace with the Preds and Ducks.
Of course, to do so means to beat a Blue Jackets team who have decided that they will fight through the last few weeks of the season. They've won five in a row very convincingly. They're playing like they probably would've played all season had their team not been decimated by injury.
No one said that the last two weeks of the season would be easy; the Blues are going to have to keep up the pressure if they want to stay in the Central Division race and the President's Trophy conversation.
