Say Hi To Game Time: BluesMay

In this summer series, we've decided to introduce the staff to you whether you like it or not. Today, BluesMay takes the floor.

We may or may not have borrowed this idea from our friends at Pension Plan Puppets. They said we owe them Pietrangelo in return. They will probably get Steve Ott instead.

Today, you get to know BluesMay--clickbait writer.

1. Why/how did you become a Blues fan?

Some of my family are big Blues fans, and we finally all went to a Blues game as a family in 2010. That's when I really started paying attention to hockey. When I was younger living in Leavenworth, KS we would go to IHL Kansas City Blades games, but I never paid enough attention to the games to understand what was happening on the ice (I only liked to go when the San Diego Chicken mascot was going to be at games).

Anyway, now I'm a Blues fan and I understand the game…this very, very frustrating game.

2. How many years have you suffered?

Five years.

3. Favorite player/moment

Well, I have purchased two Blues jerseys, and neither player is with the team anymore. My first was Vladimir Sobotka and my second was Erik Johnson (I last wore my EJ jersey in Colorado at an Avalanche v. Canucks game).  My first shirsey was a Ketih Tkachuk, but I only saw him play two games.

I don't really have a player that I can definitively say is my favourite. T.J. Oshie is gone, Barret Jackman is gone, Sobotka is gone (for now), Vladimir Tarasenko is everyone's favourite and I'm too hipster for that (jk).

I probably have to say Tarasenko or Jaden Schwartz. They're just so much fun to watch.

An odd favourite moment was being at the Verizon Center for Blues v. Capitals and seeing B.J. Crombeen score a breakaway goal. The Blues ended up losing, but that was pretty fun to see. It's just one of these things that stuck in my head. I'm sure I'll get a better favourite moment down the line, hopefully a Stanley Cup hoisting moment!

A favourite non-Blues moment was being at the Coyotes v. Predators Game 5 of the second round in Phoenix and watching the Coyotes send the Predators home to golf.

4. How did you begin writing for Game Time?

I started assisting Donut King with the Daily Links.

5. Are you an out of towner? How does this impact your fandom?

Currently in Montana for another week. Obviously can't go to as many games as I was used to when I lived three blocks from Scottrade. NHL GameCenter is the worst streaming service on earth, as Donut King said.

6. Do you have other hobbies other than hockey?

I have been nonstop on Zillow and Pinterest home ideas recently plus watching tons of House Hunters and Holmes Inspection (feel pity for Donut King). I love music (been on a big David Bowie kick recently) and surfing the interwebs.

7. Favorite beer/beverage

Quilter's Irish Death from Iron Horse Brewing out of Ellensburg, WA is my current favourite beer.  Summer Honey from Big Sky Brewing is my go-to in the summer. I'm both a porter apologist and a Chris Porter apologist, by the way (GO SIOUX).

8. How many more years do you think it'll be before the Blues win the Stanley Cup?

Between threeve and eleventy billion.

9. Most important lesson learned as a Blues fan?

Don't get your hopes up against a supposed "easy" opponent. They'll fucking break your heart…again….and again…and again.
