We may or may not have borrowed this idea from our friends at Pension Plan Puppets. They said we owe them Pietrangelo in return. They will probably get Steve Ott instead.
Today's victim, er, volunteer is recap writer Justin42.
1. Why/How did you become a Blues fan?
It actually happened because I would always go to a friends house and they would have games on. None of my family was really into hockey. They still aren't. My aunt who claims to follow the Blackhawks thought that the final with Tampa Bay was one game. Anyway, whenever I would go to my friends house during hockey season, that's always what we did. I was probably about 7 or 8.
2. How many years have you suffered?
23 or 24 years. Although the first few years I really didn't understand it. I do now and it hurts worse every year.
3. Favorite Player/Moment?
Can't narrow it down to just one so....Hull, Pronger, MacInnis, Backes, and Tkachuk just to name a few. I'm also impartial to Justin Williams of the L.A. Kings. I'll give you 20 bucks if you can guess that reason.
As far as a moment? Recently, it was Perron scoring in his comeback game against the Hawks. I know they lost, but hey, it was cool to me dammit. Further back it was Gretzky playing for the note. I know it didn't last long (Fucking Mike Keenan) but it was still cool to see one of the greats play for St. Louis.
4. How did you begin writing for Game Time?
I just so happened to see a post about needing a recap person. I had done it in the past, and I missed it. Needless to say I jumped at the chance. It's been interesting so far for sure.
5. Are you an out of towner? How does this impact your fandom?
I literally just moved back to the St. Louis area two weeks ago. Before that I was stationed in Las Vegas for 12 years. Following the Blues was hard at first, but once I was able to get cable/satellite it became easier. Twitter made it easier (and sometimes harder depending on who you talk to) to communicate with fellow fans as well. My fandom has somehow increased over the years. Even with the Blues failures...ANYWAY.
6. Do you have any hobbies other than hockey?
Netflix, Cardinals Baseball, Rams football, cursing, drinking enjoying life and having fun. Most recently started watching Friends. Always watching some Star Trek episode. (DS9 was the best one. Don't even argue because you know it's true) I have a dog named Samuel L. Blackson.
7. Favorite beer/beverage?
Anything cold and wet to be honest. The only thing I've found I don't like in my beer drinking career is dark beer. I'm always willing to try something new though. Soda will always be Mtn. Dew, but now that I'm home it's Ski.
8. How many more years do you think it'll be before the Blues win the Stanley Cup?
Next year. Or the year after. Or the year after that. Or...you get the point.
9. Most important lesson learned as a Blues fan?
You learn to deal with disappointment. And always. Fuck Mike Keenan.
