Blues At Stars Morning Open Thread: Antti Matters?

New, comments

The Blues are aiming to back above. 500 after a loss to the Blackhawks Saturday night.

Saturday night, the Blues' B-squad kept pace with the Blackhawks for most of the game. Tonight, the Blues' A-squad will be taking on the Dallas Stars probable A-squad (the lines haven't been released as of writing this). Jamie Benn has mostly recovered from a hip surgery that he soldiered through last season... and managed to deal with well enough to win the scoring title with 35 goals and 52 assists. He was projected to have four to five months of rehab, and it seems that the Stars' coaching staff feels like he's rehabbed enough:

"He is skating well, and this is part of where we want to get him to. We’re hoping to get him the last two out of three (preseason games)," Ruff said.

So, is Benn 100 percent?

"I think he is close. I think there is a comfort level where he is," Ruff said. "100 percent? I don’t know. That’s putting a number on it, and it’s hard."

Added bonus: fellow hip surgery patient Ales Hemsky is also going to be in the line-up. Kari Lehtonen? After last week's 6 goal performance, I think seeing Antti Niemi is a safe bet.

Who is in for the Blues? Just a good number of the same players who made it rough going when the Stars were in Scottrade. From the Blues' official site:

Elliott, if you remember, shut out the Stars on Thursday night.

This is your morning open thread. Check back later on a GDT for something that may or may not be on the radio.
