Captain Backes: A true tough guy worth saluting
The departing center leaves a big gap in St. Louis as he leaves
David Backes Pens Farewell Letter To St. Louis
A great mixture of emotions and thankful for an amazing decade of my life! Farewell @StLouisBlues #BleedBlue pic.twitter.com/AyYSSOqj06

The former captain has moved on, but it sounds like he'll be one of the many former St. Louis athletes to find his way back. I for one look forward to the day when the team's front office includes Backes and Barret Jackman.
Blues Sign Carter Hutton, Extend Jake Allen
There's no 1A/1B tandem in St. Louis anymore.
David Backes Signs With Boston Bruins
It's time for the Blues to start searching for a new captain.

David Backes Hitting Open Market
Looks like David Backes going to market. STL took a run at re-signing him this morning. BOS significant interest in Backes.

This, of course, doesn't mean that he won't be re-signed, but it makes the possibility of the Blues losing their captain even greater.

It appears that Brian Elliott didn't have a desire to be part of a 1A/1B tandem again, which is understandable considering that how he played in the playoffs and down the stretch would've solidified him as a starter on nearly any other team.
Doug Armstrong To Pursue Goalie In Free Agency
Doug Armstrong says he'll be hitting the market for another goalie, most likely through free agency.
— Craig Custance (@CraigCustance) June 25, 2016
Apparently Armstrong is not content with Anders Nilsson. The trick is getting someone of Elliott's skill set with a comparable cap hit. Personal opinion: that's going to be difficult to do.
Thank you Brian Elliott for a helluva run
The 31 year old departs in a tough but understandable trade
David Backes should get a chance to retire a Blue
Signing him to an extension of reasonable length this offseason would go a long way toward that end, but considering the shelf life of power forwards, it may end up being the last deal he signs. I've heard of worse ideas.
