Tonight, the Blues and Red Wings square off on NBCSN's rivalry night. Whether or not the Blues and Wings are still rivals is up for debate - different conferences has put a damper on the hatred, and the Red Wings seem to have the Blues' number in overtime whenever they play.
If these two teams were still in the Central Division, I would be more apt to call what they have a rivalry. As it stands now, it's more of a historical hatred, like Sweden and Norway or something along those lines.
Brian Elliott has been overworked the past two games, having to stop 82 of 87 shots. No, that is not a typo. The Blues have actually surrendered 87 shots over two games. Elliott plays well in high-work situations, but maybe cutting him some slack wouldn't be too much to ask.
This is your morning open thread. Check back later on for some Road Music with CCR, and later for your GDT. While you're waiting on puck drop, head over to our frenimies at Winging It In Motown and see if the hatred's still there.
