The Colorado Avalanche are improving, slowly but surely. They're a game above .500, and are now in sixth place in the Central Division by virtue of the Winnipeg Jets losing steam. They're also an impressive 7-2-1 against the Central Division, which is the same record that the division-leading Dallas Stars hold. The Avs also are tied with the Blues for the sixth best power play in the league.
Back on December 13th, the Avs spoiled the momentum the Blues had found by beating them 3-1 the night after St. Louis shut out the Stars. Tonight, a win against Colorado could start the Blues' road trip off on the right foot, or it could be more of the same problems.
This is your morning open thread. Check back later on for CCR's Road Music and your preview, and while you're waiting on a late puck drop, head over to Mile High Hockey and say hi.
