It’s not the Road to the Winter Classic this year, but it still has the same potential for exciting, unplugged hockey television. EPIX’s series will return to TV on December 16, and the Road to the Outdoor Classics will feature the Red Wings and Maple Leafs, who play in the NHL’s Centennial Classic. It will also, of course, feature the Chicago Blackhawks (who must be used to all of these cameras in their dressing rooms by now) and the St. Louis Blues as they prepare for the NHL Winter Classic on January 2nd.
Finally, the Blues aren’t the team that makes the special guest appearance in the special - though with three other teams from larger markets being featured in the show, there’s room for concern that the Winter Classic’s host team could get lost in the shuffle (see the phrasing in the press release for confirmation that the Blues are the odd man out).
But there’s hope, Blues fans! I have three words for you: Ken. Hitchcock. Uncensored.
