Blues Vs. Bruins Recap: Space Chips...WOO!!!

After garbage first, Blues pull their heads out...And play one of the best road games of the year.

Blues Lineup:

Forwards: Jaden Schwartz, Paul Stastny, David Perron, Robby Fabbri, Jori Lehtera, Vladimir Tarasenko, Dmitrij Jaskin, Patrik Berglund, Nail Yakupov, Scottie Upshall, Kyle Brodziak, Ryan Reaves.

Defensemen: Jay Bouwmeester, Alex Pietrangelo, Carl Gunnarsson, Kevin Shattenkirk, Robert Bortuzzo, Colton Parayko.

Goaltender: Jake Allen

Game Highlights:

In case anyone forgot, it's the first game for the Blues against former captain David Backes. With that being said, Backes opens up the scoring for both teams tonight. This gave the Blues, Bruins the 1-0 lead. In case anyone cared, this was the 20,000th goal in Bruins franchise history. Yay.

Jaden Schwartz had the Blues best chance in the first. He walked in alone on a breakaway chance, but Rask gets the stop to keep the game 1-0 Bruins.

Other than the Schwartz chance, the Blues looked out of sorts in the first period. That changed (for the most part) in the second. Jori Lehtera scores the Blues first goal of the night beating Boston starter Tuuka Rask. Also, Parayko still has a cannon for a shot and an assist on the Lehtera deflection. Tarasenko gets the secondary assist on the goal.

Not all the kinks from that first period got worked out. With the Blues on the powerplay, Boston scores a shorthanded goal on a hard skating play from Dominic Moore. 2-1 Boston.

The Blues tie the game with 6 minutes left. Robert Bortuzzo(!) scores from a weird angle after Patrik Berglund got the initial shot on goal. The aforementioned Berglund, and Parayko notch the assists on the game tying goal.

Moments later, the Blues struck again. This time Paul Stastny benefits from a juicy rebound and nets the go ahead goal putting the Blues up by one. Jaden Schwartz and Nail Yakupov get the credit for the assists on the play. By the way Yak was on the ice for four shifts in the second. The Blues scored goals on two of those shifts. And as mentioned he had an assist on one of them. Just saying.

The second period wasn't just for goal scoring. Jake Allen makes a tremendous couple of saves in the closing moments of the frame. Not only did he deny the primary shot, but casts away the secondary chance as well.

More of Jake Allen in the third period. He was getting better as the game went on. On this series he stops a backhand chance, a wraparound, and anything else that was thrown at him. (Minus a kitchen sink, as those are banned)

IF KEVIN SHATTENKIRK COULD STOP TURING THE PUCK OVER IN HIS OWN ZONE THAT'D BE GREAT 2016. But seriously. Stop it.

In the end however, Space Chips pulls the Blues through and nets the empty net goal that seals the 4-2 road win for the good guys. Good guy David Perron passes up an empty net again.

The game started bad. The game finished good. This is hard hitting analysis. In all honesty, it was one of the Blues best road wins so far. It snaps a four game road losing streak, and keeps the Blues winning streak alive. Four wins in a row for the Blues which is the first four game winning streak of the year. Next up for the Blues are the Capitals. You don't have to wait long for that one, as it's tomorrow night.

The Blues haven't lost a game since the 8-4 shellacking in Columbus, Jake Allen might have something to do with that.

Jake Allen, stopping 39 of 41 shots. The reason the Blues didn't go down by more than 1 in the first, and kept the game scoreless after the Blues took the lead.
