Whenever a NHL regular goes down with injury, it potentially opens a door for a call-up to show what he’s capable of. With Robert Bortuzzo out right now, Brad Hunt has been a quality replacement defenseman. With Paul Stastny out tonight, it’s Wade Megan’s turn.
Megan currently has 13 goals and 11 assists for the Chicago Wolves. He was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 5th round of the 2009 NHL Draft 138th overall). The 26 year old has bumped around the minors for a while and has yet to play a NHL game, but is starting tonight on the fourth line and may well see some third line time.
"Our understanding is he's played really well. He's gotten great reports down there," Hitchcock said. "Obviously he's scoring like crazy. (He's a) smart player, he was noticeable in training camp, he stayed right to the end. If you're looking for a center, he's the guy you choose because he's dominating down there."
Megan is third on the Wolves in scoring.
