Jonathan Quick has been out for a while with a lower body injury, but he returned on Tuesday evening against the Washington Capitals. He looked human against them, allowing two goals en route to a 3-1 Kings loss. The Pacific Division leaders have been a heavy, tough team to play against this season, especially with the addition of Milan Lucic, and the Blues should have their work cut out for them tonight.
Quick traditionally has played the Blues very well, eliminating them from the playoffs twice. Brian Elliott, making his 16th (!) consecutive start tonight, has been playing the entire league very well. He's currently leading in save percentage (.933) and is third in the league with a 2.03 GAA. Tuesday night he allowed only one goal to the Dallas Stars, which isn't something many goalies can lay claim to this season. He's beaten the Kings once this year, allowing just one goal in a Blues 2-1 shootout victory on January 9th in LA. The Kings defeated the Blues earlier in November 3-0 in St. Louis.
The pattern seems to be the road team winning. Let's see if the Blues and Brian Elliott can't break up this trend.
