Sharks Vs. Blues Recap: Nope.

Mulligan. Do over. Something.

Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

Blues Lineup:

Even with Alexander Steen out for at least four weeks the Blues would have minimal line up changes for the game against San Jose. That lineup was: Jaden Schwartz/Jori Lehtera/Vladimir Tarasenko....Side note on Tarasenko, he would be sporting an A for the game. Robby Fabbri/Paul Stastny/Troy Brouwer...Patrik Berglund/David Backes/The return of Captain Umlaut Magnus Paajarvi...and Ryan Reaves/Kyle Brodziak/Scottie Upshall. On defense the Blues would go with the pairings of: Jay Bouwmeester/Kevin Shattenkirk...Carl Gunnarsson/Colton Parayko...and Joel Edmundson/Robert Bortuzzo. Starting in net for the Blues was Brian Elliott

Game Highlights:

The Blues would get scored on early as Tomas Hertl would poke one past Elliott for a 1-0 Sharks lead.

Ryan Reaves would find himself with a 5 minute major and tossed from the game after this hit:

That would lead to the second goal from Hertl:

With the Sharks still on the powerplay, Bortuzzo would go off for slashing and the Sharks would take advantage on the five on three. Logan Couture would score his first of two tonight against the Blues.

More importantly Brian Elliott would appear to have gotten hurt on the play. Because the Blues haven't had enough injuries this year right?

Jake Allen would return to the ice to relieve Elliott. The Blues were down 3-0 and needed to do something. There was some light at the end of the first as David Backes would score to make it 3-1.

Three of the games first four goals would come with a man advantage. Yikes. But the Blues would score first in the second period to make it 3-2 and it looked like the Blues were right back in the game.

That's another powerplay goal for the game and Tarasenko's twenty ninth goal of the year. The assists go to Shattenkirk(21) and Lehtera(19) Literally 20 seconds later the Sharks weren't having any of that though as Logan Couture would score again. (His second goal is featured in the highlight of his first goal) giving the Sharks yet another two goal lead.

Fast forward to the third period now as Joe Thornton would steal the puck from Edmundson and backhand it past Allen for the 5-2 Sharks lead.

The Blues would add another goal a few minutes later though. Bouwmeester would slap one home past Martin Jones for the Blues third goal of the night. The Sharks would challenge for goaltender interference, but it was called a good goal.

Tarasenko(25) and Lehtera(20) would both get assists on the play. Tarasenko would finish with three points (1 goal, 2 assists) on the night. It wasn't enough though as the Sharks would add an empty net goal late and go on to beat the Blues 6-3. The Blues don't play again until Thursday as they will take on the Rangers at Scottrade. Be sure to pick up a Gametime paper though as there are only a few home games left!

Miscellaneous (Not So) Fun:

News on Elliott:

It sounds like Reaves will have a phone hearing with the NHL on Wednesday:

There was a bright spot for David Backes last night. Goal number 200 for his career:

And Finally, The Blues are calling out former Rams fans to join in on the fun (Ok maybe tonight wasn't fun but you get the idea):

Three Stars:

Third Star: Vladimir Tarasenko (1 goal, 2 assists, looked good sporting the A, and still good at hockey)

Second Star: Tomas Hertl (2 goals, really put a Hertl on the score sheet)

First Star: Logan Couture (2 goals, 1 assist, scored on the play that Elliott was hurt on, so it must be his fault right?! *not really*)
