Blues At Senators Morning Open Thread: Gain Ground

New, comments

The Blues have another opportunity to gain some ground on the Stars and Blackhawks tonight. Will they take advantage of it?

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The Blues tend to play the Senators well, but the games are rarely an easy win. They have points in their last seven games against the Sens, but are 3-0-4 in that stretch. Their last game against Ottawa, on January 4th, ended in overtime courtesy of Bobby Ryan. You can't look at the points or standings when the Blues play the Sens. Sure, the Blues are 4th in the league in points, and the Senators are 19th, a 14 point gulf between them. But the Senators, for whatever reason, do not like the Blues, and that feeling is mutual.

Tonight's line-up will be a Ty Rattie free affair. Despite scoring the first goal of the game Sunday, and his fourth overall this season, the forward was returned to the Chicago Wolves last night. I'll go out on a limb and assume that this clears some space for the return of Jori Lehtera or Ryan Reaves. It will probably be the latter, because why would the Blues choose someone who can score to be in the lineup?

Magnus Paajarvi lives to play another day.

This is your morning open thread. Hang around for your Road Music from Cross Check Raise, check back for the GDT, and while you're waiting head over to Silver Seven and see how they're handling the Shane Prince trade (and other things).
