Well y'all...the end came a bit earlier then we hoped. Despite tying for the best record in Pool D, having a superior goal differential, a superior goals allowed number, and gaining our two wins in rather dominant fashion...the American Collegiate Hockey Association has set up, in their infinite wisdom, that even though we play group play one bad day can cost a team their championship hopes.
Such is the story for the Lynx. But anyways, we found out we were eliminated shortly before we faced off with the University of Utah "Skatin' Utes" (our group really loved the alternate nicknames). Nevertheless my boys showed the heart of true champions and blew right past the Utes winning 6-2. The link to the article can be found here
This could very well be my last Lynx Links for y'all. I love working with these young men and ladies, and it has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career. However, as of now, I am still a volunteer with Lindenwood-Belleville. While I would love to continue to write about these spectacular scholar athletes, the real world is in fact here and if I get an offer of a full-time paying gig, I will have to take it.
As I have said already, I have had so much fun covering these exemplary young people and it truly is a blessing. If this is not meant to be...well that happens...but I am so blessed to have covered these amazing athletes and to share my stories with y'all. I know there will be another story sometime soon, as we will have numerous honors bestowed upon us (Academic All-Americans, All-American awards, and possibly multiple Coach of the Year awards). Nevertheless, I want to thank Hildy for promoting my stories that I have shared and I want to also thank all of you who have taken the time out your day to read about ACHA teams.
The Lindenwood University-Belleville men's and women's hockey programs are exceedingly proud to be THE ACHA teams of St. Louis Metro Area. As their writer, this has been exceedingly rewarding both professionally and personally, and it is because of you...our readers! So, once again, thank you so very much for letting me spread my love of both this wonderful sport and these amazing young people! I am truly honored!!! #GoLynx
