So far, it's been widely assumed that St. Louis will host the 2017 Winter Classic on January 2nd. I have already booked my hotel room; I suggest you do so ASAP to avoid some serious rate hikes.
Or maybe not. Who knows?
As of this morning, the NHL hasn't made an official announcement about an official announcement about the Winter Classic. To announce it during a national broadcast on NBCSN featuring the two teams presumed to play in it would make sense. Will it happen?
No one's confirming anything - not the Blues, not the NHL. Jeremy Rutherford, over on STLToday.com, had this to say:
The Post-Dispatch reported Feb. 7 that the NHL was strongly considering the Blues and Blackhawks for the Winter Classic. The decision has been made that the clubs will indeed meet on Jan. 2 at Busch Stadium, but the players and fans continue to wait for it to become official.
Hopefully that will happen today.
