Saturday Links - Trailer Park Boys

New, comments

I can't believe I've never seen this show before. I've heard so many great things about it, and some of them seem true.

We had a mix-up on links duties, so you get me instead of BluesMay. I'm sorry / You're welcome.

WHEN WE LAST SAW THE BLUES . . . :

  • . . . they played pretty dang well, but the Blues ended up losing to the Blackhawks 4-3 in double overtime thanks to a goal from that one garbage fire of a human being. Late start and late end meant no recap, so you get JR's instead. [StL Today / Morning Skate]
  • Second City Hockey liked the result. [Second City Hockey]
  • I think The Committed Indian did too. [The Committed Indian]
  • CCR and I ruminated nearly 24 hours after the fray. [SLGT]
  • A glorious opportunity was missed with that Game 5 loss. [Frozen Notes]

OTHER BLUES NEWS:

  • Scottie Upshall says it takes one glass of red wine to move on from a game like Game 5. That and other notes from Lou. [In the Slot / Lou Korac]
  • Game 5's ratings on Fox Sports Midwest were the highest ever. Surely, the fact that the game was locally (and almost regionally, in my case) blacked out on NBCSN had NOTHING to do with it. [Frozen Notes]
  • Disappointment. [SLGT FanPosts]
  • Game 6 will start at 7pm tonight. [SLGT]

KNOW YOUR ENEMY--THOSE FUCKERS UP NORTH (AKA THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS):

SCORES AND BRACKET:

HOCKEY NEWS:

  • Gary Bettman missed the reality of Pat Foley's rant regarding late start times, writes Hildy. [SLGT]
  • Ryan Lambert looks at why Sharks future Hall of Famer      Joe Thornton is running crazy all over the Kings in Trending Topics. [Puck Daddy]
  • For some reason, our old friend T.J. Oshie dropped the gloves with Brayden Schenn 10 seconds into last night's Capitals-Flyers game, which Philly won 2-0 despite being EGREGIOUSLY outshot. [CBS Sports Eye on Hockey]
  • In fact, the Flyers had so few shots that they set a Goddamn record. [Sportsnet]
  • Before the Islanders pulled off their victory in the second overtime, Aleksander Barkov had a chance at history . . . with a penalty shot, the third one in overtime history, due to the derpitude of Isles defender Calvin de Haan in the first OT frame.. [The Sporting News]
  • Also, Frans Nielsen had trouble with his water bottle. [SB Nation / #Lookit]
  • Now that the Red Wings are eliminated, Pavel Datsyuk says he needs some time to consider his future. [USA Today]
  • Despite rumors to the contrary, Wild(s) owner Craig Leipold says general manager Cliff Fletcher's job is safe. [TSN]

OTHER SHIT:

  • RIP, Prince. [New York Times]
  • Passover started at sundown last night. Manischewitz has become a traditional beverage at Seders. But the Kosher wine had mainstream success, too. Even Sammy Davis Jr. served as its' spokesperson at one time. [NPR / Goats and Soda]
  • Ever feel like you're being followed? Okay . . . but what about . . . BY A FUCKING RHINO?! [Y! / AP]
  • SCIENCE SATURDAY: Look at this damn picture and tell me it isn't badass. [Nerdist]
  • Some birds eat dirt. Here's why. [Mental Floss]
  • A Pirates fan caught a baseball with his free bare hand while holding a baby. [SB Nation / #Lookit]
  • Meanwhile, the White Sox pulled off a very non-routine triple play thanks to some shitty baserunning. [Deadspin / Screengrabber]

VIDEO:

Because of the mandated blackout of NBCSN's feed of Game 5, I had to find illegal web streams to watch the game. In one of those feeds, during stoppages, whoever was feeding the video was showing clips from the popular show "Trailer Park Boys", a show I've never seen . . . but was rather amused by. Here's a "Best Of" from season one of the program:

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

If the series goes to Game Seven, one of us will have links. Who knows which one of us? I don't even know.
