Let's admit something: not everyone expected this outcome, but everyone who is a Blues fan is happy with it. The Blues defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in game seven to move on to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. They will face the Dallas Stars later on this week - start times are TBA.
How did they do it? With a little third period magic. To start off with, you have Troy Brouwer scoring probably the ugliest playoff series clinching goal in recent memory:
No one cares how ugly it was, though, because it went in. You don't get bonus points for looks.
This was followed up by a near tying shot from Brent Seabrook that went off of both posts and miraculously stayed out of the net:
The Blues held on to win the series, their first game seven win since 1999, and their first series win since they defeated the Sharks in 2012. Stay tuned for a full recap in a little bit, and savor this feeling - the Blues have three more rounds of this.
