Let's all admit it - when Jake Allen went down with an injury against the Colorado Avalanche, most of our first thoughts (after "damn it) were probably some variation of "how long until Brian Elliott gets hurt too?"
Our answer: a game and a practice.
Elliott left today's practice after a puck hit him in the wrist. Right after practice, coach Ken Hitchcock commented to the press:
"We think so," Hitchcock said when asked if Elliott was OK. "We'll let you know later in the day. We'll see how it is. Typical of the way things are going. So hopefully it's good news, no issue, but we'll see."
Yep. Blues typical. Playoffs typical. Disaster typical. Would Anders Nilsson be ready to play against the Blackhawks? Would he be the Blues' playoff starter?
Nope. The Blues tweeted this shortly after practice and Elliott's evaluation:
.@KidElls1 on leaving practice early today: "(I'm) totally fine. It happens every day in practice, you're always taking shots." #stlblues

Brian Elliott: "With all the injuries, we have people get a little sensitive but I'm all good and ready to go for tomorrow." #stlblues

Go on and unclench, guys. We still have a starter (for now).
