San Jose Sharks Defeat Nashville Predators, Will Play St. Louis In Western Conference Finals

This probably wasn't the matchup Blues fans wanted, but it's going to make for a hell of a series.

John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

The Nashville Predators would've been an ideal opponent for the Blues in the Western Conference Finals, but alas, an all Central Division matchup is not to be. Cancel your road trip reservations, folks - unless you live close to San Jose.

The San Jose Sharks defeated the Nashville Predators in their game seven tonight by a score of 5-0, making tonight the second game seven blow out in the West this round.

The Sharks took the season series from the Blues 2-1, but Brian Elliott does have a shutout against them this year. Both teams are big and physical - this should be a long and hard fought series.

Whichever team survives this round is going to be a problem for either Eastern Conference Final team - there's a chance that this season we'll see a team win its first Stanley Cup. One of two suffering fanbases may finally get their championship.
