WHEN WE LAST SAW THE BLUES . . . :

  • . . . it wasn't pretty, but they got the job done. The Blues beat the Sharks 2-1 in Game One of the Western Conference Final. Brian Elliott came up huge AGAIN. Justin has your recap. [SLGT]
  • Fear The Fin saw things from their end. [Fear The Fin]
  • Before he and David Backes decided to have an interesting . . . ummmm, beard-off, I suppose you can call it. . . Sharks forward and megastar Joe Thornton had a slight malfunction involving a puck and his pants. [SLGT FanShots]
  • CrossCheckRaise and I spoke words about Game One. [SLGT]
  • Here's a game report from Josh Cooper. [Puck Daddy]

BLUES-SHARKS SHIT:

  • CrossCheckRaise and I previewed the series with Matt Taylor, who used to blog about the Sharks, on Episode #126 of Beyond Checkerdome.
  • Before the outset of the series, Dan wrote words about how these two could have a messy series. [SLGT]
  • Meanwhile, Ash aka RealBadRobot is just happy to be here. [SLGT]
  • Is Pete DeBoer begging for calls? [StL Today]
  • Ryan Lambert explains why we shouldn't be overpraising Doug Wilson and Doug Armstrong this series, among other things on this week's What We Learned. [Puck Daddy]

OTHER BLUES SHIT:

  • The Blues recently entered into an entry-level deal with goaltending prospect Ville Husso, who our Prospects Department has tabbed as the team's next goaltender of the future. [SLGT]
  • Hey, remember the Stars? Here are all the goals the Blues scored against them in that series. [SLGT FanShots]
  • They only scored two Sunday, but otherwise . . . how are the Blues scoring all these goals? [SLGT]
  • A rant regarding misconceptions about the Blues. Eh. Even I think the Blues can be a snore to watch at times, especially in the third period with a lead. [SLGT FanPosts]
  • Why the Blues need to win the Cup. [SLGT FanPosts]
  • Brian Elliott is a great bargain. #NoShit [CBS Sports Eye on Hockey]
  • The Blues will be hosting some special visitors from Saskatoon, SK for Game Two. This is a pretty cool story. (S/T to BluesMay) [The Hockey News]

KNOW YOUR ENEMY--THE SAN JOSE SHARKS:

  • You'll likely be very familiar with Fear The Fin by the end of this series. They're a great source of Sharks news and fan views. [Fear The Fin]
  • Also, even though the Sharks are the only California rep left, Battle of California is still fun. [Battle of California]

SCORES AND BRACKET:

OTHER HOCKEY SHIT:

  • The NHL's participation in the 2018 Olympics is in doubt. Not a shock, considering the location and the fact that the NHL started their own Goddamn tournament. [Puck Daddy]
  • There was a nasty brawl involving the Blue Jays and Rangers over the weekend. Afterward, former Maple Leafs tough guy Darcy Tucker offered his services to the Toronto side. [CBS Sports Eye on Hockey]
  • Drake was host and musical guest of Saturday Night Live this past weekend, during which the Canadian rap star and actor referenced Goddamn hockey legend Jaromir Jagr in a funny game show sketch. [USA Today / FTW!]
  • He did not play Game Two, but Lightning(s) megastar Steven Stamkos is definitely nearing a return. [TSN]
  • Meanwhile, one of Stamkos's teammates--Andrei Vasilevskiy--made an incredible save on Penguins uberstar Sidney Crosby during Game Two. [SB Nation]
  • Flyers forward Claude Giroux and defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere will miss most of offseason training (and, probably, the World Cup of Hockey) while recovering from surgeries. [Sportsnet]
  • The Hershey Bears and Wilkes Barre-Scranton Penguins played an exciting Game Seven in the AHL. [Deadspin]

OTHER . . . OTHER SHIT:

  • The 15 best city parks in America . . . number one? One most of us are familiar with. (S/T again to BluesMay) [Thrillist]
  • Pretty sure no general manager in any sport is worth $450MM. [Deadspin]
  • Tigers manager Brad Ausmus had a fun day at the ballpark yesterday. [SB Nation]
  • An English Premier League match at Old Trafford in Manchester, England was abandoned when a device that looked like an explosive was found. Turns out, it was a training device. But, better safe than sorry. [NPR / The Two-Way]
  • Snow in May? Yep, they had it in the Northeast. [Y! / AP]
  • Sherlock has cast Toby Jones to play a villain to Holmes. We're not sure who he's playing yet, but hoo boy this should be good. [Nerdist]
  • Wanna watch an animal webcam? Here's ten of them to choose from. Or choose them all! [Mental Floss]

BEER OF THE DAY:

  • I was in the Baltimore area this past weekend, visiting in-laws. While there, I picked up this good one . . . Loose Cannon from Heavy Seas Beer in Baltimore. A strong and tasty IPA. 7.2% ABV and despite "only" having 45 IBU's, it is quite good for an IPA. I had this one for Episode 126 of Beyond Checkerdome, the link for which you may find above. [Untappd]

VIDEO:

Sharks coach Pete DeBoer takes a strong resemblance to former Genesis drummer and world pop superstar (and a musician I've long admired) Phil Collins. So I feel obligated to post the following:

Sussudio!

BluesMay will have your links ahead of Game Three.
