The NHL has announced the home openers for all 30 teams today. The Blues' 50th anniversary season begins on the road on October 12th against the Chicago Blackhawks, in a bit of scheduling that writers everywhere will incorporate into some playoff rematch narrative, because of course the first game of the season is the exact same thing as a seven game playoff series.
In a bit of scheduling that makes me more than a tad trepidatious, the Blues return home and open at Scottrade the following day. Is this the first of many back to backs for the Blues this season? Oh, probably.
The home opener is against the Minnesota Wild, a game that usually would have no narrative qualities whatsoever, but does this year thanks to the Blues' hiring of former Wild coach Mike Yeo as Ken Hitchcock's heir apparent.
The full NHL schedule will be released at noon Central tomorrow. Keep your eyes peeled around these parts for some schedule breakdown analysis.
