Blues at Kings morning open thread: California Dreamin'

The Blues head west after a long homestand. Will they be able to succeed in a place that is usually a tough win?

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Blues' latest homestand did not go as well as planned. With six games and twelve points on the line, the Blues went 3-3. They outscored opponents 19-18 during that time, allowing four goals three times. The defense hasn't looked together and the goaltending - highlighted by Jake Allen's three goals on eleven shots Tuesday evening - has been suspect.

The offense doesn't get off of the hook here either. Two first period shots on goal in Tuesday night's 5-3 loss to the Bruins is pretty inexcusable.

The Blues can play a good twenty minutes. It'd be helpful if they could play a good sixty, especially on California road trips, where success can be hard to come by. The Kings are in the last wild card spot, and have been struggling with consistency as much as the Blues have recently. They're 4-4-2 in their last 10.

So, who will win tonight's battle of inconsistent teams coached by curmudgeons? You'll have to wait until 9:00 to find out.
