David Backes reflects on his time with the Blues on NHL Tonight

Sure, the Blues kind of crapped the bed Tuesday night in David Backes’ return to the Scottrade Center, but at least there were feels.

Regardless of your opinion on why he left, or how the breakup happened, you have to appreciate his kind words about the team and organization.

“I wanted to make sure I didn’t change into the wrong bench and when I got a penalty make sure that I went to the right box. Both of those were accomplished. Stay in the moment, I wanted to enjoy every second of this [and I] was able to.”

I’m sure it was helped by his team’s 5-3 win.
