The Blues hope to build on their shutout of the Sharks. Will they?

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Last night's 4-0 shutout of the San Jose Sharks was a pleasant turn of events for a team that has been maddeningly inconsistent and a backup who isn't having the best of seasons.

Returning home from California with a 2-1 record would be an even bigger surprise, especially considering that they haven't won a game in Anaheim since 2009-2010.

These trips don't seem to ever really go well for the Blues, but a win tonight could go a long way into leading the team into a busy stretch of play with some momentum. The Blues play every other night through the 21st; their game against Pittsburgh on the 24th is the only one that will come with two days rest.

Carter Hutton gets the start tonight again - no controversy, just a reward from Hitch for his shutout. Still, it's a message sent to Allen: you need to tighten up and play better. Allen's the goalie of tomorrow, today. The team would benefit from him playing like that.
