Jets at Blues morning open thread: Break time’s over

After a brief break for the All Star Game, the Blues are back home.

This is only a three game homestand, so I don’t know how relevant the usual “get points while you can!” line is. The Blues have played like hot garbage at home recently, and aside from a solid showing against the Pittsburgh Penguins last Tuesday, have played like hot garbage on the road, too.

The fact that they’re still in a wild card slot with the goaltending, defense, and disinterested play that they’ve been getting is next to a miracle. They’re 4-6-0 in their last ten and sit one point above the Kings and Canucks (and tied with the Flames) in the wild card standings.

It’s tough to get excited right now, and even more so when you look to see that their opponent tonight are the Winnipeg Jets, who the Blues phoned it in against on January 21st.

“Phoned it in?” you might say. “But they got three goals!”

Yes, they did, against the Jets’ perennial goalie of tomorrow, today, but not really, Ondrej Pavelec.

This is your morning open thread. Consider today an amuse bouche for Bobby’s night Thursday.
