So, the Blues waived Ty Rattie on Tuesday, and he was claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday, the same day that they placed goaltender Eddie Lack on IR.
The Canes are their typical selves this season. They're two games over .500, 5-10-6 on the road, and have lost two games in a row. They're relying on Jeff Skinner (13-14-27), Victor Rask (10-26-26), and Teuvo Teravainen (9-11-20) for point production.
As an added bonus, old friend Lee Stempniak is on the Canes this year, if you were keeping track.
It's a bit anti-climatic to play a non-conference team right after the Winter Classic, but it's also probably anti-climatic to play a game indoors, so maybe any feelings of meh this evening aren't entirely the Canes' fault.
This is your morning open thread. Check back later on for a Lighting the Lamp from Rick, your preview, and a GDT. While you're waiting on puck drop, head to Canes Country and discuss what constitutes a proper BBQ sauce (spoiler: it's not Carolina).
