New, comment

The Blues’ pre-season wraps up with roster questions looming.

NHL: Washington Capitals at St. Louis Blues Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

Happy October! This afternoon is the Blues’ last pre-season game, the season starts on Wednesday night in Pittsburgh, and none of us are sure who will be on the opening night roster.

Today’s projected line-up shows who’s in consideration for the vacant spots:

Forwards: Ivan Barbashev, Sammy Blais, Kyle Brodziak, Dmitrij Jaskin, Klim Kostin, Wade Megan, Magnus Paajarvi, Brayden Schenn, Vladimir Sobotka, Oskar Sundqvist, Tage Thompson, Chris Thorburn

Defense: Robert Bortuzzo, Vince Dunn, Joel Edmundson, Carl Gunnarsson, Colton Parayko, Nate Prosser, Jake Walman

Goalies: Jake Allen, Carter Hutton

Blais, Kostin, Megan, and Thompson have all made strong showings this fall. With the pending return of Scotty Upshall, Megan is probably out of the running, but to replace Robby Fabbri and Alexander Steen’s point production the Blues have three youngsters to choose from.

The last time the Blues and Capitals met up, Kostin did this:

Nifty.

Enjoy this afternoon’s scrimmage and keep your eyes peeled for roster finalization.

We’re almost there, people!
